Digital Photo Printing
Up to this date, there still are people that do know exactly what digital arts mean. The entire complex of modern designs and computer arts, pixels and mega pixels, image colors and displays, make many people feel dizzy and hopelessly confused. If a digital image gallery can be called: graphic arts, then why a gallery full of digital photo printing images can’t be also called a display of digital arts?
In a pure esthetic acceptation, the digital arts and its components, digital photo printing and editing, can not be discussed outside the context of the new media devices that make it possible. The history of digital arts has different starting points, depending on what you are trying to emphasis. The first digital art or computer graphic was done by Ben Lpovsky in the 50’s, but the true beginning of digital art history dates from the 70’s
Today, digital arts have their own social environment. The traditional art collector looks for uniqueness, for hand-made things. Old art objects that were hand made are characterized by a certain unique vibe that can let you still feel the artist’s hands touching them. That’s why, when you are buying a piece of traditional art, you buy in a way a part of the artist’s body. Digital arts, on the other hand, lack the artistic individuality. The digital photo printing process can reveal a tangible image, but it starts out in an abstract computerized environment. The abstract work of art becomes tangible when it is printed on some sort of material. But printing will change the light relationship substantially. No painting will reflect light as the digital photo does, simply because painting requite outside lights in order to be seen. The digital photo printing process can change the object in such a way that it become unrecognizable, because after printing it will be transmuted in an environment that offers an outside source of light. Creators could test the design by printing it themselves, but this could seriously affect the well-being of the outcome.
Because of this problem with lights, galleries also offer a digital copy when you purchase a design. The wonder of digitalized arts is best seen on a computer, that’s why digital frames under the form of large LCDs are exposed in digital art galleries. snapfish
