Home grown and organic

Well, it seems as if summer is ending here this weekend as next week is the week when Sweden goes back to work and many families are heading home. Just as in other countries, usually further south, they are just beginning.

And to underline this it is now raining non-stop after two perfect weeks of summer.

As I’m responsible forĀ  our small vegetable patch and grass-cutting (madam does the flowers) I have to say we definitely need the rain. The vegetables are looking better already – standing straight now and looking fresher.

We have just left our small house, out in the countryside, as my wife starts work again on Monday as well.

Before we left I raided the vegetable patch for new potatoes, beans, lettuce and some of the various herbs we are growing to take back with us.

The reason we take this back to town is that there is no comparison with supermarket vegetables. Our vegetables have not seen any chemicals, are really fresh and have only travelled into town and this is shown in the taste.

We don’t have any particular axe to grind and we don’t hug trees but it is nice to be able to eat this while we can as it is back to supermarket vegetables in the long winter.

And it is a great feeling to eat your own food as well.

All we need now is a cure or solution for weeds and aphids!
