Is Google Analytics for me?

According to people much better qualified to say than me, Google Analytics is an excellent tool for analysing details of visitors to your site i.e. where they come from and how they interact with the site.

Quote from Google:

“The new Google Analytics makes it easy to improve your results online. Write better ads, strengthen your marketing initiatives, and create higher-converting websites. Google Analytics is free to all advertisers, publishers, and site owners.”

This sounds good and it is also free.

But…………….

I am having problems loading sites which use Google Analytics. It is taking 15 – 20 seconds to load each page.

I normally use Mozilla Firefox browser and at first I thought that it might be something to do with the latest update.

But despite all my efforts there, no change.
I use Norton for Internet Security so I mailed them with the problem.
The reply was “This issue may occur if there are too many temporary files and cookies in Windows.”

In order to resolve the issue, I suggest to delete the temporary files and cookies from Windows and Internet Explorer.”
Not the answer for me unfortunately.
Problem still with me, so a search via Google did not bring a lot of current results although a couple suggested that the site owner
enter the code block before the tag. A further comment said that it must be entered not before the opening tag but before “End”tag.
After that I was lost.
Hmm. Out of my hands anyway but might come in useful for me later as I feel that people accessing your site could lose patience and move on.

Latest effort is to download Safari and try with that browser.

January 2009

Time has moved on and I do not have any problems with Google Analytics or sites using same. I haven’t changed anything but all is well now and I use it for my sites.
