Magazine publishing for all
In an earlier post I mentioned BLURB, the online book printing service, so I thought that today I would mention a new kid on the block which is MAGCLOUD.
People still like the printed page and MagCloud has created an online self-publishing magazine service.
MagCloud enables you to publish your own magazines. All you have to do is upload a PDF and they take care of the rest: printing, mailing, subscription management, and more.
This is a site which is still in beta, which is why it is only available in the US at the moment. However, they are working on this and expect to be able to offer the same service in Europe quite soon, and then the rest of the world.
Cost to you is what you make it bearing in mind MagCloud’s charges and the cover price of your magazine.
Charges at the moment are:
“To buy a magazine costs 20ยข per page, plus shipping. For example, a 20-page magazine would be four bucks plus shipping. And you can make money! You set your issue price and all proceeds above the base price go to you. Shipping is a flat $1.40/copy (USPS first class mail) for quantities 1-9, or a flat $13 for quantities from 10-100 (per box of 10-100).” MagCloud site.
Feedback to date indicates that the magazines are of high standard and are well received.
The magazines can also be sold via the site.
Possibilities for niche magazines? Costs permitting I can see many possibilities here.
